This Is Why You Want To Make Mistakes.
Mistakes.
We all make them.
Some of us more than others.
Reality?
Itβs an undeniable part of being human.
No matter how careful or experienced we are, errors are bound to occur.
What differentiates us isn't the frequency or severity of these mistakes, but how we respond to them.
Some may view mistakes as signs of failure and let it get to them.
Others see them as opportunities for growth and learning and excel.
And for some reason, the more mistakes, the more success...
How does this work you wonder?
π° Good News is - We all CAN flip it and use mistakes as an asset while moving forward toward more success.
Success is measured not by what you reached in life but by the obstacles you had to overcome while trying to succeed.
Changing Our Relationship with Mistakes.
The first step toward using mistakes as an asset is changing how we perceive them.
The first step toward benefiting from our mistakes is changing how we perceive them.
Instead of letting them hit our self-esteem, we can choose to view them as invaluable lessons.
By shifting our perspective, we transform what could be a negative experience into a constructive and valuable one.
This mindset encourages us to take risks and step out of our comfort zones, which is essential for moving forward and and grow in all areas of life.
The option - Stay were you are.
π‘ The easiest way to avoid mistakes is to do nothing. And by doing nothing, nothing happens either.
I don't know what is worse?
Risking making mistakes.
Staying where you are.
Knowing this, I bet all you want to do now is get out and start making mistakes.
Now, I know, it's not easy to just " go for the mistakes " and just accept it when it actually happens.
When they happen and things don't go as expected, of course it sucks.
But since it has happened, let's now make it work for you.
Therefore, I'm sharing a reframing tool that I use in my coaching to be prepared:
Quick Reframing Exercise:
Write It Down: What happened?
Analyze: Why did it happen?
Learn: What can I learn from this?
Plan: What steps can I take to improve?
Reframe: How is this mistake valuable to me?
How Else: If you didn't make this mistake, how else would you move forward?
Move Forward: Visualize putting this behind you and advancing.
When you reframe it likes this, all mistakes become stepping stones and builds your confidence while you get better at the actual thing you made a mistake in.
Often, the only way to reach the next step in our careers or personal lives is to experiment with new approaches that carry the risk of error.
Sounds pretty cool huh?
All of the sudden, mistakes are not that bad ...
P.S. Ever consider that without mistakes, we'd have nothing to laugh about at dinner parties? Keep messing up; you're making life more interesting! π
