This Scary New Thing Changes Your Life.
I don't know what the new thing is for you.
But I do know that if you do something new (scary maybe) today, something different will come out of it.
"For something to change you need to change something"
Let go of something.
Step into a new identity.
So my question to you is:
When was the last time you did something for the first time?
For Me, I Was Done Conforming, Ignoring My Inner Voice
As some of you know, this winter I decided to do something new.
Something I've wanted to do for years, but didn't for several reasons.
Fear?
Peer pressure?
Finances?
Limiting beliefs?
Comfort?
...the list can go on.
Is those things really a way to live a life from? A scarcity approach?
I decided it was not for me.
I was done with living a life that was not true to me. After all, it's my life, isn't it?
Enough with that. Enough with settling. It is time to Buy Myself.
The decision was made. The flight was booked.
--> Today, we're living in sunny Margarita Island, Venezuela.
Just like I wanted. Like I visualized.
My terms.
My values.
My dreams.
My life.
Why do it any other way?
I often see my coaching clients light up when they step out of their usual routine and permit themselves to do something else, something new. Something that excites them.
It's not about big, fancy stuff – it's about those little moments that can make a big difference. It's about questioning the norm and doing what You want.
The question I ask with Buy Yourself that can be an eyeopener:
❓ Are you sold on you? Your life? Or have You sold you?
The Magic Lies Beyond Comfort
We all have our comfy spots – where everything feels safe and cozy.
But guess what? The cool stuff happens when we get out, and expand it a bit.
Think about it: the first time you took on a new challenge, started a project or even initiated a conversation with a stranger—those moments led to growth and resilience.
They might have felt uncomfortable at first, but with time, the unknown becomes known and comfortable.
Those moments brought up feelings that you don't have when you autopiloting through life.
Fear keeps you in your comfort zone, home base for the auto-pilot.
Living on auto-pilot in your comfort zone, your life energy is slowly being sapped.
When you stay in your comfort zone, you are not doing things for the first time.
You are not exploring, investigating, or learning anything new.
You are not growing.
Holding on to false beliefs, you are not doing anything that makes you alive and thrive.
The gap between the not-doing and the doing is bridged by just that one step that you have to take to get out of your comfort zone
--> breaking through your false fears and beliefs.
Change is Growth
Change is the only constant, and every "first time" is an opportunity for change. Whether it's trying a new skill, exploring a different perspective, or taking a leap of faith in your career, these experiences shape your character and expand your horizons. The more we step out of our comfort zone, face fear, and try something for the first time, the easier it gets to motivate ourselves to do it again.
You'll realize, you did not die.
Invite Fear and Make It Your Friend
Fear of the unknown often holds us back.
But what if you viewed it as a compass guiding you toward growth? As a desire for something behind that fear? What is that desire?
Instead of avoiding it, confront fear, transform it into excitement, and use it as a stepping stone toward your goals.
"Living with regrets is far worse than facing fear and realizing you either win or learn"
Build Your "First-Time Mindset"
Don't know where to start? Here's some ways to give you that push:
Lead with Curiosity: Approach life with curiosity, like a child exploring the world for the first time. Ask questions, seek new perspectives, and stay open-minded. What do I want?
Oops, Moments are Okay: Remember the first time you tried riding a bike? There were probably a few wobbles, right? That's totally okay! Every oops moment is like a practice round for being awesome.
Set Fun Goals: What's something you've always wanted to do? Set a goal – even if it's small. Achieving it for the first time feels like getting a gold star!
Hang Out with Cool People: Surround yourself with a diverse network of individuals who inspire and challenge you. Learn from their experiences and share your own. It's like having a team of sidekicks!
Now, I am not telling you that you need to pack your bags and move.
I am asking you - What does this mean to you?
Living a life true to yourself, from your beliefs and values?
What is one new, scary thing you've been wanting to do but let fear get in the way?
PS- To help you a bit on the way, I'm sharing a coaching exercise I do with my coachees. An energy audit. What stays in your life and what do you let go of?
